Election results are unofficial until certified, and races can be called, corrected, or recounted after we publish. We cite our sources and update as we can, but we don't guarantee the data is complete or current. Don't rely on the site for legal, financial, or voting decisions; check your state election office for official information.
Profiles and promises
Lawmaker profiles combine public records with campaign promises we quote directly from a cited source. Promise ratings are our editorial judgment, explained on each promise, and applied by the same standard to every party. If you spot an error, tell us and we'll review it promptly.
Photos and text from others
Official congressional portraits are U.S. government works in the public domain. Other photos and biography excerpts come from Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia under their stated licenses, with credit and a link on each profile.
News headlines
Headlines and links in our news feed come from publishers' public RSS feeds. They belong to those publishers, and we link to the original articles rather than republishing them. Publishers who want their feed removed can contact us.
Embedding the tracker
You may embed our seat-chart widgets on your site for free, as long as the embed stays unmodified and keeps its "Politically Irritated" credit link. We may change or retire embeds at any time.
Ads and sponsors
The site may show ads and sponsor messages, which will always be labeled. Sponsors and advertisers do not influence our data or editorial choices.
Your use
Don't scrape the site in a way that degrades it for others, attempt to break it, or present our charts as your own work.
